We've spent years developing a localized design, fabrication, finishing and assembly process. Our goal is to make as much of our products in US as possible and to be a supporter of local manufacturing. We're not 100% American-Made but we're doing what we can. We are totally transparent with what comes from where and we're very proud of all that has been achieved since 2014. The process is constantly being improved and we're making investments with our local partners to have a positive impact on their long term business models.
VESSEL FORMING AND SHAPING
The shells and components for our Vessels are manufactured in China due to domestic manufacturing limitations. We only do overseas what cannot be done in the USA. We own our own tooling with only inspected & audited facilities
COATING & FINISHING
We contract with a local powder coating outfit to mix, prime and coat each Vessel individually. We have developed a proprietary racking and coating system purely to heavily coat Vessels in FDA approved coatings. After coating, each growler has the mouth smoothed again to remove sharp edges.
QUALITY CHECKS & REGULATORY
Final Assembly and QA inspections are conducted in conjunction with Customs & Border Control because the Gov’t isn’t quite sure how to classify us yet. We have to mark each vessel with multiple points of origin.
BRANDING & CUSTOMIZATION
Our production facility in the Northern Neck of VA is where each Vessel is branded or customized depending on the order. We employ multiple decoration methods to meet each partner brand’s needs and vision.
QUESTIONS WE GET A LOT...
Two reasons: 1. Because we do buy materials from China. We haven't found a domestic source so we are required to put that notice on our gear. 2. We're not taking it off until we are able to make our products 100% in the USA. We'll get there.
We contract with local fabricators and finishers around Virginia so every item passes through the hands of specialists. It's make our process a little slower but in the end- people know they're getting something that is well-constructed, thoughtfully managed and handled by pros.
Yes and No. We're certainly not the cheapest game in town but we've developed long term operating partnerships with our finishers to get a fair price that we can then pass on to our partners. We encourage anyone considering a Shine product to research any other premium branded drinkware company's prices and we think you'll see we're right in line.
We're always opening new doors with retailers, craft producers and outdoor outfits but we're super small. One day we might have a "Retailers" map but we're just fine with the phenomenal partners we have on board. Check your local brewery and help us spread the word. You can also contact us for specifics.
